Surfaces play an crucial role in materials science. Their structural, electronic, chemical and mechanical properties are used in various fields, from physics (optical devices, for example) to chemistry (heterogeneous catalysis). The aim of this course is to give the fundamental bases of surface physics so that students can approach a certain number of applications or processes in the second part.
