This is a course in the philosophy of biology. We start with the now classic text by Richard Dawkins, The Selfish Gene (1976). We will then explore several interrelated questions in the philosophy of biology with the aid of more recent contributions to the field. While The Selfish Gene is readily available in French, most of the other texts are not. We will discuss what to do about this in the first classes. I look forward to seeing you all on the 17th of September.
